Jesus Rivera - Owner/ChefMy dream was to open a Mexican restaurant in Omaha to introduce my guests to authentic Mexican cuisine in an environment that did not reflect traditional styles. Rivera’s is a celebration of everything Mexican throughout the many states of Mexico. Growing up in Puebla, Mexico, my family related food with life. We celebrated everything!  We celebrated with food and drink, and those dishes that formed this part of my life is what Rivera’s is all about.  

The dishes I have created in Rivera’s and have brought to you represent many different cultures of Mexico. The flavors come from a collection of new and old recipes. My mother and I created a menu to introduce a wide variety of chilies, seeds, and Mexican flavors to our guests. Many believe that the Chiles have special powers which bring strength and energy to those who enjoy them! 

My family and you, my friends and especially my wife, have always been the guiding force that leads me in the right direction. Your insights and opinions will continue to help me give all of you who dine at Rivera’s an authentic Mexican style restaurant! 

Born in Puebla, Mexico, Jesus Rivera is a role model that hard work and dedication can create success. Jesus came to the United States at the age of 14 to help his family out financially.  

Jesus began his career in the restaurant business working as a dishwasher at a local restaurant and worked his way up from dishwasher to pantry boy and then to assistant cook within four years. At 26 years of age, Jesus and Tracey married and continued working in the restaurant business. Jesus worked at various restaurants as a cook and a few years later became the manager of a local Italian restaurant. 
 
After working as a manager for more than a decade, Jesus was ready to open his own restaurant in Omaha. Jesus and Tracey started with an empty building and they remodeled it with money borrowed on their credit card. After eight hard months, they opened Rivera’s Mexican Restaurant in September of 2004. Jesus always knew there was something special about his food and the way he learned to cook from his beloved mother plus his experience. His authentic Mexican food has received critical acclaim over the years and his dishes are both unique and delicious.
